2D GYROSCOPIC RIVETING
This uses a tool which turns with a constant angle around the central axis of the part, while in the new 3D process the tool turns and oscillates between 0° and the maximum angle of attack.
The creep of the material takes place tangentially and radially under a highly-reduced axial force. These processes make it possible to form using creep materials which until now have been seen as unformable.

THE MOST MODERN RIVETING PROCESSES IN 2 OR 3 DIMENSIONS
2D and 3D riveting techniques are replacing traditional techniques of riveting and forming. These open up new possibilities in assembly technology, both for round and asymmetrical parts, for all applications in which a high-quality connection is required.
A machine and the corresponding tools make it possible to carry out operations involving riveting, upsetting, crimping, forming, drawing, widening, caulking and pressing – mobile or fixed assemblies with high torque.
Assembly done by riveting has to meet 14 criteria, and processes 2D and 3D ensure they fulfil them.
